results driven skin & body wellness

It’s a fact that around 90 per cent of post-adolescent women have the dreaded ‘orange peel-skin’ look. And before you think it just affects those overweight, cellulite is found on women of all shapes and sizes. There are a lot of reasons why cellulite is said to appear on your body including hormonal reasons, poor diet and lifestyle choices, age and genetic predisposition.

While each of these factors can play a role in cellulite formation, there is one common denominator to all of these factors - the accumulation of toxicity in your body. Although cellulite can be hard to totally eradicate, follow our top 10 tips to beat cellulite and you could see a difference in as little as a week.

Cellulite tip 1: Keep hydrated

Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day to flush out any excess toxins that causes fluid retention. Poor hydration can prevent the body from effectively ridding itself of excess fat, sodium and other waste which in turn results in the body’s storage of fatty deposits beneath the skin. If you get fed up of drinking plain water, try herbal teas or adding slices of fruit to flavor it. Sticking to this regime can make your skin look plumper within seven days.

Cellulite tip 2: Healthy Diet

A build-up of toxins in the body can affect the dermis and contribute to cellulite formation. Remove or limit toxins such as alcohol, coffee and processed foods containing high levels of sugar, table salt and chemical additives. Consume high fiber foods like vegetables, nuts, seeds, and berries to help cleanse the colon, support metabolism and balance hormones.  Berries are also beneficial because of their high antioxidant content. Potassium rich foods are great to flush excess fluids and waste out of cells which can reduce cellulite.  Green leafy vegetables, avocados, bananas & coconut water are all high in potassium.

Cellulite tip 3: Exercise to beat cellulite

Although slimmer females are just as likely to get cellulite as those with a fuller figure, weight gain can worsen the appearance of cellulite. If you combine a cardiovascular exercise plan with resistance training, you could dramatically reduce the appearance of cellulite. This will take longer than seven days but the reduction in cellulite (not to mention the improvement in your overall toning and fitness) will be amazing.

Cellulite tip 4: Dry Body Brushing

A natural bristle body brush could be your best purchase this year! Skin brushing helps remove dead skin cells, stimulates circulation and boosts your lymphatic flow. This in turn helps out the poor drainage in fat cells that causes cellulite. For the best results brush the skin with a dry natural bristle brush twice a day using circular strokes towards your heart. Do not brush sensitive areas such as the breasts and do not brush damaged or inflamed skin.

Cellulite tip 5: Endermologie

Although originally developed as a treatment for scars, Endermologie is a TGA & FDA approved treatment for cellulite reduction and skin toning. The massage technique uses two motorised rollers and regulated suction to break down fat cells, boosting blood & lymphatic circulation and strengthening the connective tissue. The broken down fat cells are then spread into a smoother layer. A visible improvement can be seen & felt after one session although ten or more sessions are recommended for lasting results.

Cellulite tip 6: Moisturise

There are lots of creams and gels on the market, with all sorts of ambitious claims. The truth is, for great results you cannot rely on creams alone, they need to be combined with exercise and healthy eating/drinking. Having said that, applying our DMK Body Sculpting Creme twice a week will help to reduce the appearance of cellulite whilst contouring, tightening and re-shaping the body in stubborn areas. By creating a thermogenic effect, this fabulous treatment increases circulation and aids in the removal of waste material.

Another great treatment for cellulite is the DMK Body Enzyme Mask which increases circulation and lymphatic drainage, strengthening and firming skin, excellent for cellulite, fluid retention & poor circulation.

We combine these two great treatments in the DMK Body Firming Program, a 12 week body reshaping program designed to help reduce cellulite, encourage weight loss, firm and sculpt the body.

Cellulite tip 7: Inchloss Body Wrap

As cellulite is an accumulation of toxins and fluids around the fat cells, the Inchloss Body Wrap targets these areas, drawing out the toxins and fluids making it very effective for cellulite. The herbal extracts, amino nutrients and natural sea clay in the solution, open pores and help draw out toxic accumulations from the skin and soft tissue.

Cellulite tip 8: Essential fatty acids

Essential fatty acids can help strengthen the connective tissues around fat cells, thereby helping to reduce cellulite. A diet richer in essential fatty acids may encourage the fat cells to breakdown and therefore could reduce the dimpling effect. Good sources of essential fatty acids are olive oil, flaxseed oil, evening primrose, avocado, coconut oil and fish oil. Most of us don’t get the right amount of essential fatty acids in our diet so we highly recommend taking 2-4 DMK EFA Ultra capsules as the ultimate essential fatty acid supplement.

Cellulite tip 9: Detox Your Digestive System

The digestive system is where vitamins, nutrients & minerals are absorbed. Factors such as stress, lack of sleep, common medications, illness, ageing & poor diet choices can often lead to an imbalance of the bacteria in your digestive tract, increasing the incidence of water retention, sluggish digestion, inflammation & weight gain, all playing a part to the cellulite problem.  We recommend the Regul8 Digestive Tune-Up be performed twice a year for optimum health. This is a herbal based three-step process that cleanses, soothes and repairs the gastrointestinal system, removing unwanted and unhealthy organisms, soothing existing irritations and aiding sustainable gut health.

Cellulite tip 10: Quit smoking

As if you needed another reason to quit, but smoking can worsen cellulite as it cuts off your skin’s blood supply and floods your body with toxins. This can have a detrimental effect on the elasticity of your skin, thereby worsening cellulite … and bringing on premature wrinkles and sagging. Quit now!
