The treatment

What is Body waxing?

Body waxing is a long-lasting way to remove unwanted hair from larger areas of the body.

Warm wax lifts the hair out from the root rather than just off the surface, so your skin stays smooth for weeks and regrowth comes back softer and finer over time. From legs and underarms to backs, chests and bikini, it's tailored to the areas you want done.

Concerns it targets

This is for you if

  • Smooth, long-lasting hair removal on the body
  • Legs, underarms, arms, back, chest and bikini
  • Softer, finer regrowth over time
  • Longer-lasting results than shaving
  • Anyone wanting hair-free skin for weeks at a time

Not sure which applies to you? A skin consultation maps it to a plan.

How it works

How your treatment works.

A straightforward, long-lasting way to remove hair from larger areas:

  • Warm wax is applied to the area in the direction of hair growth.
  • It's removed quickly to lift the hair out from the root, not just off the surface.
  • The area is soothed afterwards to calm the skin.

Because the hair is removed from the root, you stay smooth for weeks, and with regular waxing regrowth becomes softer, finer and often sparser over time.

Been here before?

You've probably already spent money on skin that didn't change.

Real skin concerns don't respond to guesswork, or to whatever machine a clinic happens to own. They respond to the right treatment, at the right depth, in the right order. That is the difference between spending on your skin and actually solving it.

Why Cronulla Skin Sanctuary

Real results and genuine care

For twenty years the Shire has trusted the Sanctuary to take the guesswork out of skin. Paramedical treatments, honest advice, and a therapist who holds your history: that is the difference between a fluffy facial and a plan that actually changes your skin.

Your first appointment

The first appointment isn't a treatment.

It's ninety minutes of working out what's actually going on, what you've already tried, and what's realistic. You leave with a plan in writing covering treatment, homecare and the order to do them in.

$85Skin consultation, about 90 minutes. Virtual consultation $60.
  1. 01

    Your skin, read properly.

A full skin analysis including imaging, plus a conversation about what you've used before and how your skin reacted.

  2. 02

You get the plan in writing.

What to treat first and why, what each stage costs, and roughly how long it takes. If you do not need a treatment yet, that is the answer.

  3. 03

    You start when you're ready.

The same therapist follows your progress and adjusts the plan as your skin responds.

The plan is yours to keep whether or not you book anything on the day.

Before you book

The honest bit: what's normal, and when to wait.

Every skin is different. Here is what tends to happen afterwards, and the times it is worth pausing to check with your therapist first.

What's normal afterwards

Body waxing has little to no downtime. Straight afterwards the skin can look pink and feel slightly tender or warm, which usually settles within a few hours.

Some people get the occasional ingrown hair or small bump, and regular gentle exfoliation between appointments helps keep skin smooth.

When to check with us first

Body waxing suits most people, but let us know before you book if any of the following apply, so we can wax safely or check first:

  • You use retinol or retinoids on the area, or take (or recently took) oral acne medication such as isotretinoin
  • You've recently had laser, IPL, a peel or another treatment on the area
  • The skin is sunburnt, broken, or has an active infection, rash or cold sore
  • You have very fragile or reactive skin, varicose veins, or a condition affecting circulation or healing (such as diabetes)
  • You're pregnant and would prefer to check first

Not sure it is right for you? A consultation covers your history, your skin and your goals before anything begins.

Good to know

Your questions, answered.

Everything worth knowing before your appointment. Still unsure which treatment suits you? A quick consultation sorts it out.

Which areas can you wax?

Most areas of the body, including:

  • Half or full legs
  • Underarms
  • Arms
  • Back and chest
  • Stomach
  • Bikini and Brazilian

Let us know what you'd like done and we'll tailor your appointment.

How long does my hair need to be?

Around a few millimetres, roughly the length of a grain of rice, so the wax can grip properly. If it's a little long we can trim it for you. Avoid shaving in between, as waxing works best on hair grown from the root.

How long will waxing last?

Most people stay smooth for around 4 to 6 weeks. Waxing removes hair from the root, so regrowth is softer and finer, and often sparser over time when you wax regularly.

How do I book an appointment?

Book online any time, or call the clinic during opening hours. New to a treatment? A short skin consultation is the best place to start.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Zip is available at checkout, so you can pay over time, and our skin memberships spread the cost of a course. Packages can be used up to 12 months later.

Will I need a consultation first?

For most advanced treatments, yes. A consultation checks your skin and history so your plan is safe, and it counts toward your treatment. Browse all treatments or ask us which suits you.

Where are you and is there parking?

You will find the clinic in the heart of Cronulla, with street parking close by. Full directions and opening hours are on our contact page.
