The treatment

What is IPL photo rejuvenation?

IPL photo rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that uses controlled flashes of light to target pigmentation, broken capillaries, redness and general skin discolouration.

It's ideal for treating sun damage, rosacea, age spots and uneven tone on the face, neck, chest and hands. As well as clearing and evening your skin, it stimulates collagen production and supports overall clarity, delivering real results with minimal downtime.

Concerns it targets

This is for you if

  • Sun damage and pigmentation
  • Age spots and freckles
  • Redness and rosacea
  • Broken capillaries
  • Uneven tone and dullness

Not sure which applies to you? A skin consultation maps it to a plan.

How it works

How your treatment works.

IPL delivers controlled flashes of broad-spectrum light into the skin:

  • The light is absorbed by excess pigment and by the redness of broken capillaries, heating and breaking them down.
  • Pigment rises to the surface and flakes away over the following days, while treated redness fades.
  • The light also stimulates collagen, supporting firmer, clearer, fresher-looking skin.

Because it works on pigment and vessels, it evens tone and calms redness across the face, neck, chest and hands.

How to care for your skin afterwards

Been here before?

You've probably already spent money on skin that didn't change.

Real skin concerns don't respond to guesswork, or to whatever machine a clinic happens to own. They respond to the right treatment, at the right depth, in the right order. That is the difference between spending on your skin and actually solving it.

Why Cronulla Skin Sanctuary

Real results and genuine care

For twenty years the Shire has trusted the Sanctuary to take the guesswork out of skin. Paramedical treatments, honest advice, and a therapist who holds your history: that is the difference between a fluffy facial and a plan that actually changes your skin.

Your first appointment

The first appointment isn't a treatment.

It's ninety minutes of working out what's actually going on, what you've already tried, and what's realistic. You leave with a plan in writing covering treatment, homecare and the order to do them in.

$85Skin consultation, about 90 minutes. Virtual consultation $60.
  1. 01

    Your skin, read properly.

A full skin analysis including imaging, plus a conversation about what you've used before and how your skin reacted.

  2. 02

You get the plan in writing.

What to treat first and why, what each stage costs, and roughly how long it takes. If you do not need a treatment yet, that is the answer.

  3. 03

    You start when you're ready.

The same therapist follows your progress and adjusts the plan as your skin responds.

The plan is yours to keep whether or not you book anything on the day.

Client review

I am a beauty therapist and educator at TAFE and would only trust my skin to the specialists at Cronulla Skin Sanctuary. Their education and training, equipment and machinery are second to none.

Before you book

The honest bit: what's normal, and when to wait.

Every skin is different. Here is what tends to happen afterwards, and the times it is worth pausing to check with your therapist first.

What's normal afterwards

IPL photo rejuvenation has minimal downtime. Straight afterwards the skin can look pink and feel warm, like mild sunburn, which settles within a few hours.

Pigmented spots often look darker for a few days and then gently flake away as your skin renews. Daily SPF and avoiding the sun afterwards is important.

When to check with us first

IPL photo rejuvenation suits most people, but let us know before you book if any of the following apply:

  • You have a recent tan (real or fake) or sunburn on the area
  • You take medication or have a condition that increases light sensitivity
  • You have melasma or a pigmentation condition that can worsen with light or heat
  • You have an active skin infection, cold sore, or broken or inflamed skin on the area
  • You've recently had another treatment on the area, or use strong active skincare
  • You're pregnant and would prefer to check first

Not sure it is right for you? A consultation covers your history, your skin and your goals before anything begins.

Good to know

Your questions, answered.

Everything worth knowing before your appointment. Still unsure which treatment suits you? A quick consultation sorts it out.

What does IPL photo rejuvenation treat?

It uses controlled flashes of light to target pigmentation, broken capillaries, redness and general discolouration. It's ideal for sun damage, rosacea, age spots and uneven tone on the face, neck, chest and hands.

How does IPL photo rejuvenation improve my skin?

The light targets and breaks down excess pigment and redness, and it also stimulates collagen, so as well as evening your tone it supports overall skin clarity and freshness.

Will I need to avoid the sun?

Yes. Because IPL targets pigment, it isn't suitable on recently tanned skin, and you'll need to protect your skin from the sun with daily SPF before and after your course.

How do I book an appointment?

Book online any time, or call the clinic during opening hours. New to a treatment? A short skin consultation is the best place to start.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Zip is available at checkout, so you can pay over time, and our skin memberships spread the cost of a course. Packages can be used up to 12 months later.

Will I need a consultation first?

For most advanced treatments, yes. A consultation checks your skin and history so your plan is safe, and it counts toward your treatment. Browse all treatments or ask us which suits you.

Where are you and is there parking?

You will find the clinic in the heart of Cronulla, with street parking close by. Full directions and opening hours are on our contact page.
