Before you book

The honest bit: what's normal, and when to wait.

Every skin is different. Here is what tends to happen afterwards, and the times it is worth pausing to check with your therapist first.

What's normal afterwards

Microdermabrasion is gentle with little to no downtime. Straight afterwards your skin can look slightly pink and feel a touch more sensitive, which settles within a day.

Your skin will be more sensitive to sun for a few days, so daily SPF is important.

When to check with us first

Microdermabrasion suits most people, but let us know before you book if any of the following apply, so we can tailor it or check first:

You have active or inflamed acne, or a rosacea or eczema flare on the area
You use retinol, retinoids or strong active skincare (you may need to pause beforehand)
You've recently had a peel, laser, needling or injectables on your face
The skin is sunburnt, broken or has an active cold sore
You bruise or scar easily, or have very sensitive skin

What does it feel like?

Can I wear makeup afterwards?

It's best to let your freshly polished skin breathe for the rest of the day. Because your skin absorbs more after treatment, it's the perfect time to feed it good products.
